Not bad demons. Well, no worse than anyone else really.

This is the story of the inhabitants of that island and in particular Gilbert, a demon, and his best friend Grim, a rabbit who just happens to have a part time job as Death.

We're moving!

Literally, we're picking it up, putting it in a car and driving it three miles from our old house to our new house.

Gilbert and Grim uses two servers. We're odd like that.
One server does the bandwidth intensive stuff like hosting images and one server does the rest, because the other one can't. The one that does the rest lives in our home office and we're moving house, so the server is getting temporarily unplugged.

As a result the awesome Marko Fithian of http://www.roomiescomic.com and http://www.drugmoneycomic.com (which recently got a bit of a nod in pages 38 and 39 of this chapter) offered to host the site for us until the internet gets turned on in the new place. We of course said yes. Check out his comics because he's awesome and deserves it.

Once we're settled back in and I have a nice drawing space updates will be returning.
Hiatuses suck and as soon as I sensibly can I'm giving this one the boot.

The second this I have to mention is that for some time now I've been running the organising committee for The Webcomic List Awards and they are now open for nominations. If you happen to write or draw a comic, write a blog about comics, do a webcomic podcast then you almost certainly qualify to make nominations. Go check it out at http://www.thewebcomiclist.com/awards/

Also, I updated the version 1.0 archive with something I meant to do a long time back.

A while back, I said that I had some personal news to share when things were a bit more certain. Well, they're a bit more certain now. = )Me and Jess are moving house. We'll be moving about ten minutes down the road to a slightly bigger house with a driveway, so no more trying to avoid parking with one wheel in the storm drain outside the house! We're getting a new office too in the attic, so we're currently looking at the existing plans (the ones in the comic there) and working out how best to set it out. One good thing for the comic is that I will be getting more desk space when we move, so I'll be able to have my drawing board permanently set up, instead of having to evict my keyboard and other things from my desk whenever I want to draw. This is very good news for the comic. Not so good news is that the comic is going on hiatus, possibly until we move in to the new house, possibly until we've done all the preparation that we can.The other good news is that once we're settled in the comic will be going back up to two comics a week, Tuesdays and Fridays.Sorry, for the break in updates and I promise, no more interludes in this chapter when we come back. = )

Vwump!

Okey-dokey.So, a couple of weeks ago I asked people to email in to tell me what continuity mistake I'd made in a comic and in exchange I'd send out a prize of some kind. Well, we had a winner and when I asked her to pick a character she chose Grim, so this is what I sent her and this is what I'm planning on making the first in a series of Gilbert and Grim prints:

I just need to find a decent place that does print on demand prints or posters and lets you limit what choices are available. I'm generally happy with Zazzle so far, but there's no way to limit prints to just the options that you think will look best and I'm very choosy about things related to the comic, so if anyone has any suggestions where I could get them done with a bit better control I would love to know.

Z

Jessica is based on a real person, only in real life she's just called Jess. She's awesome.I'm pretty sure the real Jess has never pretended to fall asleep in a public place like that. Whatever you feel best with...Oh and if you don't know the song in today's comic, shame on you!If you know it as that tune in the Coke ads, even more shame on you! Shame, shame, shame! There's a brilliant live version here, so come on, listen to it, sing along and join in Thalia's hippy moment.=)

Annoying Things

It didn't really happen. There's a couple of reasons It didn't really happen. The main is that I ended up adding more panels to this scene, even after I had to cut the comic in two in order to update on reasonable time last week. Yep. I'm probably crazy.Three other things of note; One, there is a Zazzle store up there in the top bar. It's not fully stocked yet and it needs some more customisation, but there it is. Feel free to buy as much Gilbert and Grim stuff as you like. Really, feel free. I got a webcomic related shirt in the post myself today, a Scary Go Round one, this one in fact. I think it's awesome, for reasons you should be able to guess, but it did teach me one thing; American Apparel shirts are a bit smaller than they say they are. About a size smaller in this case, so if you do buy one yourself (hint hint - there's a couple in my store) do yourself a favour and go one size bigger than you ideally want. Two, Jason who does Tweetics, did this awesome strip/. I might be slightly biased about its awesomeness, but it still is awesome. Awesome.Three, If you've read this far you can possibly, maybe win a prize. Yay! Prize!Today's comic has a deliberated continuity mistake between panels. If you are the first person to correctly work out exactly what changes between the panels and email with the details (the panel number and description of what's wrong) you win something! I'm not telling you what yet. It's a secret. That and maybe I just haven't decided yet.

Email- wendy-at-gilbertandgrim.com
Update!!

11.10 am UK time, about eight and a half hours in we got a winner.
The correct answer was the teal coloured box on the shelves behind Grim and the other, as yet unnamed, rabbit changing in panel eight.

I'll let you know more later.

A short while later...

I don't have any. Today's comic, I mean Friday's comic, was supposed to be three times as long as this one, but as it is I was still working on it and it was over a day late, so I've split the page in two. Here's the first part. The second part will be along later this week as a separate page. Also, there's a couple of nods in the direction of Drug Money. I won't tell you what they are. I expect you to work it out by yourself. :P

Going so soon?

I finished inking today's comic a full 12 hours before it was due to go along. You would think then that I'd be able to get the comic online in time. The colouring and lettering phase takes me a little less than 12 hours to complete. However it's still late, mostly because... Well, entirely because our HP printer/scanner wouldn't behave. It's worked fine for the last two months or so, but now that I'm working to schedule it's gone wrong again. I swear the thing hates me.

However it was behaving earlier this week when I uploaded two new comics I found in a dusty box to the Version 1.0 archive including the original never before seen cover. Why don't you go have a look at the first of them over here? They're not that bad really. =P

Also, I'm pretty happy with how the boss's creepy Death form came out.

Multi-coloured Swap Shop

First up Bucky B who does The Life of MagFlamequill did an awesome piece of Grim Rabbit fan art, which you can find on her Deviant Art page here.In other news I'm organising, with a lot of help from the community, a Webcomic List run webcomic award... thing. It's open to public discussion until next Sunday when the serious work starts, so if you'd like to make any suggestions check out the forum dedicated to it.Uh, that's about all for now. Firstly, I thought I should share with you something I forgot to add to an earlier post.

Jesse Justice of Diablito del Ring and myself were chatting in IRC when he said about having a try at drawing something 'furry'. Not being one to miss the opportunity to get some cool pictures of my characters by artists better than myself, I suggested he have a go at a version of Grim and he did and it's awesome!

The second bit of news isn't quite as good. Things are a little up in the air at the moment and I've been having problems keeping up with updates. If things go to plan then they're going to become even more busy and distracting for a little while, so I'm reducing comic updates to Friday mornings, or late Thursday night in some parts of the world.

Updates will increase again when things are more settled again.

There's a good reason I expect things to get more hectic in a while, but I'll share that with you all when I know more.
For now I will leave you guessing.
= P

Finished. I think this page has taken me longer than any other in this comic.
It was tricky, but I'm pretty happy with the result. : )

Solution Pt.1

Currently me and Jess should be getting ready to go the allotment and do some gardening. Well, mainly her doing gardening and me hanging around aimlessly, but either way we should be getting ready to go out. Instead I'm sat here drinking tea and listening to a thunder storm. I guess I don't need to water the planters today.

One thing I have to say in today's update is that I'm sorry about missing Tuesday's comic completely. Getting the house back in shape after the plumbers, electricians and all have left is a bit more work than first anticipated. I don't like missing updates. In fact, I really don't like missing updates, but the extra housework time was really needed. I really need to improve my time management skills somehow.

Anyway, it's kind of nice having this storm today, even though it means our plans for the day have gone out the window. The heat was getting unbearable, especially when I got up this morning and the storm's done got rid of that nicely. I'm not really a summer person. I'm looking forward to autumn coming along and kicking out of the way.

One last thing before I hit send on this. Go check out Family Webcomics, because they deserve the attention. :)

Also, if you feel like it check out the best webcomic forum on the whole wide internet, The Webcomic List.

The Gathering

Not as many as it takes to pick up a soul apparently.

Molly Pt.3

And so Grim actually does what she's supposed to do and goes to get some work done.

In other news the recent downtime is now over. I'm really sorry about that but due to some electrical works, which took longer than expected, we had one of the servers down for a while.

See, the way we have things working here is we have two servers that run this site. One is a remote host that stores all the images and other bandwidth intensive things. The other is in our office and runs the background stuff that we found out the remote host can't or won't support. Anyway, the wiring here turned out to be worse than the electricians expected and only slightly better than I had guessed at. Now it should all be working.

So far, so good.

Molly Pt.2

Just a comic for you to look at.

Molly

First up I apologise for this being a day late. My scanner was playing up again and I only managed to get the first half of the strip scanned before the start of Monday morning. This shouldn't be a problem any more as I downloaded some newer drivers. Time will tell if that really fixes the problem. This strip was inspired by a little character that me and Jess saw in a charity shop for 50p. She now lives on our fireplace but here's a picture of her on my desk, hanging out with some Daleks. :)

Back at the office

Two bits of good news. One, we're back from our temporary downtime and two the RSS feed should now be working.
Hooray!

Also there's another cameo in today's comic, because I love doing cameos. :)

Meggy of Filtered Fuzz was kind enough to let me use Maggot the Frogoblim in today's strip. Filtered Fuzz is one of my favourite webcomics. I'm not sure if I've put it in the links page or not, but if I haven't I really should. Please go check it out. It's awesome.

Oh yeah, I changed the previous page a bit too.

Rehearsal Time

Due to a few things, including us having our bathroom replaced this week, I'm a comic light this week, so instead of a Sunday comic and a Tuesday comic there's just a Monday comic. Friday's comic should be unaffected though.

EDIT!
During the recent downtime I decided to make some modifications to this page to fix what I thought was a bit of a pacing issue.
This new version is at least 87.3256% better in my opinion.

Debate

It's been a while since we've seen these two about, hasn't it?

A friend of mine pointed out that the new site doesn't have an update schedule posted anywhere on it, which would be a pretty useful thing to do, so in absense of an update schedule somewhere on the main page I'm just going to say it here for now. Updates are every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. I usually aim to get the comic up in the early hours of the morning UK time, but like today sometimes things get in the way and the update is delayed a few hours.

That's about all I've got to say for today. I have to go out and do some shopping.
Fun fun fun.

See you all later. o/

Wake Up

I had an empty picture frame to fill so I asked the good people of #webcomics who should be in the frame, so in addition to all of yesterday's cameos we have Evil Couch riding Martin the dinosaur from Gothy Beans

Page 100!

Also to go with page 100 we have a brand new website. Version 1.0 doesn't have a functioning navigation yet and the commenting system is still in progress, but don't worry. It's on its way and everything else should be working fine.

If you do spot any problems email either me at wendy@gilbertandgrim.com or Jess, who made this site because she's awesome, at kittyjess@gilbertandgrim.com and we'll get it fixed. :)

In other matters, today's comic features more cameos on the walls of Gilbert's house. The comics featured today are:

Antisoshell
Calamaties of Nature
Quick Shots

Check 'em out.
They're awesome.

Logic

Just a comic for you to look at.

No Rest Pt.3

First up, apologies for the missed update yesterday. Our router sort of died, or at least was in the process of dying a slow and painful death.

Between helping Jess hunt for a replacement and preparing for something that will remain half secret for now (Yes. I'm a tease.) I managed to miss the Friday update and didn't manage to finish off this comic until, oh, about twenty minutes before writing this, so instead I'm posting a comic today, but today's update comes at a price.

What's this price. No comic tomorrow. There's just no way I can get two full pages done this weekend and I thought as I'd missed Friday I'd post one in the middle of the two update days. There's logic there I assure you.

Anyway, as for the comment title. It's true. This is not comic 100. It's comic 98. The archive says 100 but there are two pages in the archive which are just images and not really comics of any description. I'm counting anything with "Interlude" in the title, because they're comics, just single panel ones and other single panel comics count. Interludes are just pages that don't fit into the current continuity for where they're put. I still like them though.

Anyway... I think I'm rambling now, so I'll leave you now to get on with whatever it is you need to get on with and if you're reading this more than three days into the future then I hope that will be reading the next page.

Anyway, no more rambling.

More comics on Tuesday and then Friday, which will be comic 100!

Go me! ^_^
